GARDEN OPEN DAYS 2020/2021
This has been an unusual and very difficult year for everyone due to the COVID-19 pandemic. At ARCH, we were unable to host a fundraising event and open the gardens at Dunsborough Park in the early part of the year. But we were determined to share the beauty of the tulips this year to bring some much-needed cheer into a gloomy world.
Therefore we were delighted to produce a virtual Tulip Festival video showing the spectacular blooms and the informal display of a meadow of tulips. This video was enjoyed by many and is still available to view via the Dunsborough Park website home page link – www.dunsboroughpark.com – or the link to the website on our Instagram page. Do take time to have a look – it will really lift your spirits!
As the year progressed, we decided to open with online bookings only for our Dazzling Dahlias in September. Two daily openings and a maximum number per group worked really well. The event covered 2 weeks and we were fully booked on most days. The feedback from the many visitors was very positive.
We were also very pleased to have raised money at this event for our 3 chosen charities – The Woking & Sam Beare Hospice, Shooting Star Childrens Hospice and ARCH.
So after the success of the dahlias, and COVID-19 restrictions permitting, we are delighted to announce that we plan to hold a Tulip Festival next year and we are very excited to be planting new bulbs in the garden!
The Tulip Festival will have the same online booking procedure and we will be open for two weeks with a morning and afternoon session.
Registration for the Tulip Festival is not yet open but please in the meantime put the dates in your diaries and keep an eye on the Dunsborough Park website for updates.
Our dates and times for this and hopefully our other garden events for 2021 are as follows.
April: 8 (NGS) – 24 April (Sundays and Mondays closed). Tulips.
May: 14 & 15. Wisteria.
June: 1-12 (Sundays and Mondays closed). Roses and Peonies.
September: 7-18 (Sundays and Mondays closed). Dahlias.
Opening Times:
Morning: 9.30-10.00 arrival. Gardens shut at 12 noon.
Afternoon: 1.30-2.00 arrival. Gardens shut at 4pm.
